Fresh off the airplane from Portland, Vasek Polak and his team pulled into Orange County for an evening party at Gunther Werks.

The lights were down, the music was up, and partygoers were out to marvel at some stellar Gunther Werks craftsmanship. “Not only was it exciting to see the multiple 993 Porsche cars being transformed into 400Rs, the highlight of the party was definitely the clear coated, carbon fiber bodied car. It’s so stunning and beautifully put together. The weave of the carbon fiber mat matches from one panel to the next which requires superb attention to detail and skill”, says Vasek. The party was filled with familiar faces from around the country and inspiring cars to admire. Vasek mentioned, “it was impressive to see the optimized ERP and bespoke JRZ suspension components. Also, the intricate assembly details of the lights, they did a phenomenal job on all that- the inserts are totally Gunther Werks and beautifully done.”

After completing Lit Show duties, it was time to get out and enjoy another gorgeous day in Southern California. Vasek Polak and team arrived at a courtyard BBQ hosted by Emory Motorsports, home of the 356 Outlaws. Upon arrival through the gates, we were greeted by some of Rod’s beautiful creations including his original 356 Emory Special and his more recent and well known MOMO car. Vasek admired everything on display and mentioned, “I loved seeing the Emory 4-cylinder dry sump engine based on 993 architecture, imagined by Rod and impeccably engineered by Jeff Gamroth of Rothsport.”

The gathering was well attended- people enjoying the California sun with a plate full of tacos, a line of imported rusty 356’s patiently awaiting their number to be called, and overall a truly welcoming and understated gathering surrounded by jaw-dropping work by Rod Emory and his team. Vasek greatly enjoyed walking through the workshop, seeing the tools, equipment, and cars in various stages of completion. “It’s amazing to see how many cars Rod has inside and outside of the shop and to witness his process. The quality of craftsmanship is especially impressive in the 356 cars being modified to accept more current Porsche suspension and C2 or C4 drive train components. The integration is impeccable. He’s totally loaded with work to do and it’s wonderful to see. People from all around the world absolutely love his work, and for good reason,” says Vasek Polak.
